So, Why Vanessa Annabella; The West Coast Lady? On the third year of having this business started thinking long and hard about its name and how I wanted to represent me better. I am grateful to what "Rock On Beauty" has done for my business in the last 3 years but the only thing that said anything about me in that name is the "Rock On" part. With 2020, I want to continue to strive for my life goals and continue to grow and improve myself. Unfortunately, Facebook in all its wisdom kept telling me that I couldn’t change the name of the group because I wasn’t following the naming guideline... crazy Huh? "Vanessa Annabella" 🦋 is the scientific name for the butterfly🦋 commonly named "The West Coast Lady." This beautiful small butterfly🦋 wings are a vivid orange with a brown and white pattern in the upper-side, an orange bar at the leading edge of the fore-wing and a hind-wing with 3 or 4 blue submarginal eye-spots. The underside of the wing has a complex pattern; eye-spots are obscured by other markings. The less colorful underside of the wing has a mottled pattern resembling gravel or bark so it is camouflaged when it's wings are closed to blend quietly into the environment and protect itself from predators but it rests with its wings open showing the beautiful orange, white, and brown wings with blue eye-spots which can also be seen when it flutters by. The West Coast Lady is found in the Western United States which is where I spent most of my adult life until now and where I underwent several transformations including motherhood. All three of my children where born in Western States and I even went to college in the West Coast. Now I live in the West Coast of Florida so I am still, the West Coast Lady 📷📷;-) 🦋
Much like this butterfly🦋 that happens to hold my name, I too, have had to blend-in and adapt to protect my myself and my family. I still have to from time to time but now... now I am resting and fluttering by enjoying my family, my friends, and the life I planned and worked hard for throughout years of sacrifice filled with ups and downs. Years in which I had experiences that most people don't have in a lifetime. Experiences that give me a broad understanding of the complexities of this life, tolerance over all of our differences, and an ability to give at least a little bit of love even when I am not appreciated. Some of you know a little or a lot of my story, nobody knows all of it but I can assure you that my colors are intact and I will always keep moving and bringing love, joy, and beauty (inner beauty) everywhere I go.
A simple Google search will immediately tell you that "Butterflies 🦋 are deep and powerful representations of life. Many cultures associate the butterfly🦋 with our souls. The Christian religion sees the butterfly🦋 as a symbol of resurrection. Around the world, people view the butterfly🦋 as representing endurance, change, hope, and life." They represent the never ending cycle of life, powerful transformation, resurrection (that's why they are all over Easter posters 📷📷;-) ), the ability to change when necessary, spiritual rebirth, metamorphosis in your life or personality, moving through different life cycles, renewal, lightness of being, playfulness, elevation from earthly matters, tuning into emotional or spiritual, the world of the soul, the psyche, finding joy in life and lightness of being and list goes on and on. An orange butterfly🦋 represents passion, but it can also represent aggressiveness, which makes this, my Vanessa Annabella, perfect to represent me not just because it holds my name but because it's simply me 🦋
